Campaign Story

Donalda’s Story: For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a Mom. My Daddy had a doll made for my 5th birthday and I carried Jessica everywhere. I changed her clothes, fed her, I even used my old car seat and stroller to take her out with me. The older that I got, the desire to be a mom grew into an ache that nothing could satisfy. I have endured miscarriages, loss, and an ectopic pregnancy. After getting married, we began to try to get pregnant via insemination but it never happened. I was beyond devastated, the grief has been overwhelming. I decided to give up, but the NEED to be a Mom only grew. At the age of 45, I figured my prospects were limited. However, not so. The doctors are very hopeful that I will be able to conceive via IVF and have a healthy pregnancy. I am doing everything that I can to prepare for my promise. My babies didn’t come when expected, but I KNOW THAT THEY WILL BE WORTH THE WAIT.
Nia’s Story: I,too, have always longed to be a parent. I was always the one volunteering to babysit my cousins and my neighbor’s children. While we do not have biological children, we have helped raise many children and have loved and provided for them as if they were our own. We have been disappointed by failed attempts in the past, but still have hope that we can one day have our own little ones.
Between us, we have nearly 40 years in education. We have been social worker, nurse, teacher, confidant, stylist, cosmetologist, cheerleader, negotiator, motivator, and mom to thousands of children. Now, it’s our turn to build our own family and we need your help.
We appreciate you taking the time to read our story. We are planning to travel to Barbados for IVF during our summer break. ANY contribution will help us to finally fulfill our dream. As my grandmother used to say, “A little makes a lot when we put it together.” 🥰
